Mars names new leader for Nature’s Bakery

MCLEAN, VA. — Nature’s Bakery, a subsidiary of Mars, Inc., has named Lauren Spear as chief executive officer and general manager. She succeeds Steve Gardiner, who left the company in September to become CEO of Death Wish Coffee Co.
Spear most recently was vice president of Mars’ US snacking sales for Walmart, Sam’s and McLane. Earlier, she was a sales director for Nestle Walmart beverages, baking, waters and global brands. She also spent many years in sales at Procter & Gamble.
“Lauren brings a wealth of experience leading teams at Mars, Nestle, Procter & Gamble and PE backed Onieda Group,” Nature’s Bakery said. “With a proven track record in building brands and driving growth, her leadership has transformed teams and delivered sustained success.
“Lauren will lead Nature’s Bakery into its next phase of double-digit, category-leading growth. Just as importantly, she will focus on developing talent and nurturing the winning culture that makes Nature’s Bakery so special. Beyond her impressive background, Lauren anchors her leadership with curiosity, collaboration and heart. We couldn’t be more excited to have her lead our team.”
Spear received a bachelor’s degree in marketing, international business and Spanish at the Indiana University — Kelley School of Business.
Nature’s Bakery earlier this year opened a new $240 million, 339,000-square-foot production plant in the Mountain West neighborhood of Salt Lake City.
